“PLETT HERE WE COME”
The venue
The news we have all been waiting for is
now here. The 2012 Triumph Sports Car Club Nationals will be taking place in
Plettenberg Bay from Thursday the 26th of April 2012 to Tuesday the
1st of May 2012. After much deliberation and intense and sometimes
heated discussions a decision was made in the interests of all who will be
attending this highlight event on our club calendars.
Plettenberg Bay is recognised as South
Africa’s premier coastal play ground offering a variety of accommodation
standards from one star to five plus. There are, as some of you will have
experienced, some delightful pubs and restaurants, not to mention the beautiful
beaches and surrounding natural beauty. Just down the road is the world famous
hamlet of Knysna offering good cuisine,pubs,boat rides
and much more.
Accommodation
The accommodation that has been negotiated
is of a very high standard and will be capable of keeping everyone at one
venue. River Club is a well established development on the river’s edge
situated about one kilometre from the Beacon Isle hotel. The grounds are
immaculately kept and the houses are well designed and very comfortable. You
will not be disappointed. Pricing is
also reasonable and the 2011 pricing has been negotiated for all who book and
pay their deposits by the 31st of May 2011. There is a possibility
that Holiday Club members can swop out time at River Club through
Flexiclub. Flexiclub can be contacted on
031 7177591. Contact your holiday option
provider who should also be able to help you. A decision has been made to
appoint Robberg Estates to co-ordinate all the bookings for River Club.The
contact person is Mandie Truter 044 5332505 cell 083 658 8075 e-mail mandie@plettenbergbay.com. To make
a booking a deposit of R750.00 will be required. The
balance and a R300.00 check out fee will be required
10 days prior to arrival. Robberg Estates have got 25 cottages on their books
for rental but have arranged with other agents to rent units out that are on
their books This complex is very popular and is in great demand so please book
and secure your accommodation as soon as you possibly can to avoid
disappointment. You will find Mandie very helpful so please make use of her to
fulfil your accommodation needs. Please refer to correspondence, rates and
layout plan supplied by Mandie. River Club apparently does not have a web site.
To wet your appetite and get an idea of the accommodation and complex Google River
Club Plett and go to River Club villa 41: Plettenberg Bay.
River Club is the complex with green roofs in the aerial photograph. This will
allow you to orientate yourself, as in one of the aerial pictures you will
notice the Beacon Isle hotel. Another establishment that is RCI affiliated is
Castleton in Plett and there are bound to be others as well. Contact your
provider.
Once you have made your accommodation
booking please advise Heinz Koncki of these details whether it be at River Club
or elsewhere in order for good communication and organization at nationals.

Bob Pretorius has requested that all those
members who received floating trophies at the Drakensberg nationals to hand
them to him personally at registration in Plett. Please it is very important
that these are in good and clean condition with the appropriate engraving done.
Sponsorship
At the time of this Sabrina going to press
no sponsorship had been confirmed. There are some committee members very active
trying to get a sponsor. Previous host centres will confirm that this does not
come easy. This is a very important ingredient for the success of the Plett
nationals. We urge anyone with any information that could possibly lead to
gaining a sponsor to please pass this on to a committee member for action.
We have approached the executive producer
of the Ignition TV program for coverage of the nationals and have had a very
favourable response with some proposals being put forward by them. This type of
exposure helps in closing down a sponsor.
What do I need to do?
- Register for Nationals using the enclosed registration form.
- Book my accommodation with Mandie Truter.
- Inform Heinz Koncki of my accommodation details. h

- Get into the garage and start preparing my Triumph.
